As you may know, this past weekend was Fort Wayne’s annual Fort4Fitness Fall Festival consisting of a 4 Mile and 10K Walk/Run as well as a Half and Full Marathon. There were over 7,000 participants this year which is amazing. The course was well marked and the weather was great! And a big shout out to all the volunteers and race organizers that help make everything go smoothly. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!
Now, this is Personal Training Institute’s first time organizing a group to participate. It took lots of prodding, encouraging, and reminding to get people to fill out the team. But we ended up getting 26 individuals participating in every event, event the Kid’s Mile on Friday night!
Here’s the breakdown:
4 Mile – 13 participants
10K – 9 participants
Half Marathon – 1 participant
Marathon – 2 participants
Kid’s Mile – 1 participant
I feel like this was an amazing turnout and I just want to say how proud I am of our clients that participated.
Unfortunately, the event got cancelled due to bad weather, but I am sure he would have done great!
Fantastic 4 Milers
We had some runners and we had some walkers. We even got previous trainers, Steven and Marcos, to join us. Thanks guys! Huge shout out to Kimmie for getting her family involved and never quitting for the entire walk (and for beating your grandsons haha). Anyways, nice work on pushing through especially since it was starting to get a little warm out by the time you guys started!
Our 10K participants included Carly, Michael, RJ, Jen, Roshni and previous trainer, Nicole, along with a couple other friends and family. Really proud of RJ and Jen for moving up to the 10K at the last minute and doing well for their first race! RJ may have even mentioned doing a 5K in a couple weeks… And congrats to Roshni for signing up and finishing in a great time too! Thanks goes out to Nicole, Karen, and Dondra for joining us on the beautiful day.
Lone Half Marathoner
I was the lone half marathoner. I tried to get others to join me, but I was met with a hard pass each time. Maybe next year though… Not sure about the other routes, but the half was great. Thanks to all the volunteers and police officers directing traffic! And big thanks to the residents that cheered along the course, especially Santa’s village. And thanks to the others that cheered me on at the end even if I couldn’t hear you haha.
Ok, I only say crazy because I am a bit intimidated by these guys. My friend, Anthony, and a friend of Michael’s, Matt, ran the grueling 26.2 miles. It takes guts and extreme mental toughness to do that, especially since it was 2 laps of the half marathon rather than a single loop. I just want to say you guys are awesome! If anyone is interested, Anthony has a fitness blog you can check out here.
I just want to say thanks again to everyone that joined us on Saturday. The mission of Fort4Fitness is to inspire healthy living through fitness which is exactly what PTI wants to do. I think that we accomplished this with getting people that wouldn’t normally participate out and moving. Again, I am proud of everyone that came out and got their fitness in. I hope you continue participating in events like this and challenge yourself. You might be sore for a couple days afterwards, but it is well worth it in the end.
